1) As a book-to-movie adaptation: This is the now in my top three book-to-movie adaptations of ever (After The Lord of the Rings and somewhere around Harry Potter) A good book-to-movie adaptation isn’t about hitting all of the plot points or showing every moment from the book on the big screen, it’s about capturing the soul of the book. I want to watch the movie and feel the same emotions that I did when I read the book, to feel wrapped in the same ambiance, the same feels. This delivered. This DELIVIRED.
2) Peeta vs. Gale: This is something that I find really peculiar and can’t explain AT ALL. When reading the books, I was Team Gale from start to finish. I admired his loyalty, his bravery, his strength, his responsibility, his protectiveness of his family, among other things. When watching the movies, though, I’m constantly voting for Peeta! I don’t know if it’s because he has more screen time, if it’s because I see him doing more impressive things, maybe because he’s adorable, but when watching the movies I am on his “team”. It’s weird. [Btw: when reading the books I was really happy that Katniss chose Peeta, even though I would have chosen Gale, because she loved him. I don’t need to approve of her choice, she does.] In the books I will always be Gale, but in the movies I am officially Peeta.
